All,

Below is a round-up of the priorities for the IFA in it's inaugural year (that relate to our club). If you are interested in getting more involved please contact Ryan Ginard on 0418 879 091 or email president@springfieldutd.com.au

Players:

Identify players for the Ipswich Centre of Excellence Program.

This program will have the best players training together a minimum of once a week in an elite environment. Age would begin at under 11 and hopefully go to under 14 boys and girls.

Require a venue and coaching and support staff. Coaches would be appointed on the recommendation of Paul Lonton the FQ Development Officer for our region.

In the near future, FFA and FQ will be introducing a skills acquisition program for players in the 8 to 11 year age groups. Specialised coaches are being trained at the moment. Until this program is introduced, it is suggested that FQ would extend the Centres of Excellence down to the 8 year old age group (eg SUFC U8 players)

Coaches:

FQ has collected data from the 2009 local coach’s registration data base that highlights a lack of accredited coaches. Of the 98 coaches listed on the data base, only 23 have any formal qualifications.

This is made up of :

Junior Licences: 14
Youth licences : 8
Senior licences : 0
AFC B( State ) licence. 1

“Better Coaches means Better Players”.

We must educate the coaches as well as giving the opportunity to gain coaching experience at a higher level. Working with Paul in the Centre of Excellence will go some way to achieving this but coaches must be encouraged to attend formal coaching courses. FFA has recently revamped the community coaching licences and has made them more user friendly.

Grants of $3000 are available through the Department of Sport and Recreation for coach education - SUFC intend to apply for this in 2010

Coaching Courses that will be organised prior to the season kicking off.

Grass Roots Coaching Certificate: A free course, this is the first course in the FFA coaching pathway. It is design specifically for the Mum and Dad coaches who coach small sided games. It is a participation only course that explains how to organise and run basic coaching sessions.

Junior Licence: This is the first of the FFA accredited licences in the Community Coaching Pathway. Duration is 14 hours over two days and the cost will be approx $160 (to be confirmed by FFA) This is for coaches who work with 8 to 11 yr olds. Minimal assessment of candidates.

Youth Licence: This licence is for coaches who work with 12 to 15yr old. Duration is 22hrs over three days and will cost approx $160 ( to be confirmed) Minimal assessments of candidates.

Senior Licence: This course is for coaches who work with players 16yrs and upwards. Duration is 22 hrs over three days and will cost approx $160 (to be confirmed). Minimal assessments of candidates.
