Match report v Greenbank Empty Match report v Greenbank

Springfield utd have broken away from the bottom six with a frustrating 2-1 win against Greenbank. We controlled the match early and by ten minutes we have carved numerous opportunities  and could have been easily 3-0 up. With Greenbank allowing us so much time and space the ball playing skills were on show as we had about 80% of possession. Finally after 30 mins Dorfy scored his 5th of the season bullying his way down the right and smashing the net with a bullet strike beating a busy keeper. Assuming an avalanche could happen after scoring the first I changed the formation adding another body upfront. This created more goal mouth action but once again we could not find a goal to reflect our dominance. We were made to pay early
In the second half as a through ball eluded our defence and was finished neatly by their speedy striker. The boys have shown great composure this year after conceding a goal but things were looking a bit frayed as we all knew the game should have been out of reach.
After 15 minutes of trying to regain a bit of patience the springfield lads were finally back on task as the chances were being created at will. After making a big impact after coming on as a 2nd half sub Liam Gaskin was rewarded with a goal from a corner. We pushed hard for a sealer but we had to settle for a 1 goal margin. Final score 2-1.

It was great to finally resume the season after a two week break. Even though it got ugly towards the end there was a lot of fantastic football.
Captain Blake, Arif, Dorfy and reliable rob underwood all had strong games with man of the match Andy nutton showcasing his versatility playing at least 4 positions in one half.

Even though it was frustrating seeing us not put away more of our 23 shots
We completely dominated our opposition and illustrated our improving ball playing abilities. Our next game is away to toowong on Tuesday night in the next round of the veto cup.
