Match report vs Logan Village March 19th
Springfield utd travelled to the outskirts of Brisbane on Saturday and maintained their unbeaten start to the season with an exciting 3-3 draw. Knocked out unconcious last week, Rob underwood left the keeper with head pains after lobbing a him from nearly 30 metres out. With slippery conditions hampering Springfields neat passing style Logan village was finally starting to assert some pressure as tentative defence allowed the home team to equalise just before the half hour. With midfield and defence struggling to deal with the conditions there were no such problems with the front pairing of Josh irvine and mitch Nuendorf. They were a constant threat with the latter grabbing the lead back with a neat finish just before half time. Just after half time we had a golden chance to go 3-1 up as Springfield were awarded a straight forward penalty after the speedy Irvine was clipped in the box. Up stepped captain Andy Nutton to take the spot kick but his solid shot was superbly stopped by the home keeper. We were made to pay for that miss as only a few minutes later village equalised after a mix up at the back. It wasn't long though until we were back in front with a superb finish from our enigmatic forward Wombok neatly lobbing the keeper to make it 3-2 with still half and hour to play. Once again the boys in sky blue let the lead slip as poor marking allowed the home team to make it 3-3. With legs tiring Springfield were now the team under pressure and were defending grimly even when our task received a boost when Logan village had a man sent off with 10 minutes remaining. But the lads held on and were happy to take something from a hard slog in our first away trip for the season.
Mitch Nuendorf capped of a great game with man of the match honours and Cokey received players player.
It was a great experience for the guys as we were the source of constant heckling and a playing on a heavy track made the task a little tougher than normal. There were a lot of positive signs that we can take in to next game this Friday 830 at home.
