Match Report v mt gravatt
Springfield utd put the disappointment of their first lost last week by pushing the ladder leaders to the limit in a hard fought 2-2 draw. After a cagey start by the boys, they finally started to assert some pressure and carve out some good chances. We thought we had scored as a goal bound shot was cleared off the line. Honest Josh went off to complete a goal celebration but the officials didn't agree. Halfway into the first stanza, the home team took lead after their first real passing movement lead to a shot that was parried by the consistent Brett hall into the path of a grateful mt gravatt striker. We responded well and were rewarded when terrific pressure enabled a mistake by the hawks and the oracle made them pay with a blistering shot from 30 metres out. The fact that this was the last play of first half created a buzz when the team regrouped for oranges and words of inspiration.
The second half was a tight affair with both teams defending stoically as each attacking threat was snuffed out with ease. Just as Springfield were looking likely to break the home team
We conceded a goal from a corner. But once again the boys regrouped fantastically and set about leveling the scores again. After changing the formation to more of an attacking look we were rewarded with a first goal of the season from Andy Nutton who finished off a great cross by Arif. As hard as we pushed we could not find the winner and the scores finished 2-2.
A fantastic performance the lads this week considering we did play on the Tuesday. Mammoth displays by central defenders and midfielders. I awarded the man of the match to Richard hill and players player was Andy nutton.
We have a week off and get back into the action with a catch up game on the 29th against Brisbane force.
